Supporting Parents through Parent Coaching Jaya, Selangor & through Telehealth Video Sessions

Parenting is a tough job, and here at Insights Psychology, our Psychologist aims to assist you in managing your child and teens’ behavioural challenges, not through rewards and punishment, but through a collaborative approach, including prioritising the child’s needs, helping them verbalise or show their needs, and working together with your child/ teen to reach a satisfactory solution..

Whether it is behaviour challenges related to Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), emotional dysregulation (not able to control emotions such as anger or anxiety), schooling issues, self esteem or friendship problems, parents play a crucial role in supporting children and teenagers’ acquisition of these emotional management and problem solving skills.

Parenting support or coaching is not a passive service where the psychologist works with the child and try to ‘fix’ issues, it is a collaborative effort between parents and the child. Parents should expect to be involved in discussing the child’s difficulties, helping the child in session through role play, discussing possible solutions and trying new strategies between sessions. Children as young as 4 years old can participate, even non-verbal children.

If you feel you are ready to embark on a journey of learning, unlearning and relearning traditional parenting techniques, in favour of something that lasts for your child or teenager up until they become adults, I encourage you to book a session to experience the session and how the collaborative approach can provide you.

Psychologist, Ms Ng is guided by principles and techniques of Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), play and expressive techniques. She may also work with school teachers or paediatricians when needed.

Note: If you are currently sending your child for ABA therapy, whichever type, you are encouraged to decide if you want to pause the therapy before engaging in our Parenting Coaching sessions here. This is because the strategies used are very different and do not work well if your child is still doing ABA therapy.

We do not provide ABA therapy service as we believe there is evidence of potential harm to children’s emotional health. Feel free to enquire if you have any questions.
